Police in Darmouth are warning about a man with a firearm in the Gaston Road area of Dartmouth.
Halifax Regional Police say the public should be on the lookout for a bald man in his late 40s, around six feet tall and 170 pounds, with an average build and tattoos on both arms. He is wearing blue jeans, a black T shirt and work boots.
An emergency alert issued around 10:20 a.m. said the man is believed to be armed and dangerous.
“Police ask the public to stay away from Gaston Road and ask residents to shelter in place,” the alert said. “Call 911 if you spot the man. Do not approach.”
A number of officers and police vehicles are on the scene, and a section of Gaston Road is closed. Some officers could be seen with long guns.
