People near the Bonny Lea Farm in the Municipality of the District of Chester, N.S. are being asked to leave the area immediately.
An emergency alert was sent at 10:33 p.m. Sunday by the Lunenburg County Regional Emergency Management Organization. It said there is a propane leak in the vicinity of 10 Berties Way off Highway 14.
The alert asked all residents within 800 metres of the area to evacuate.
A comfort centre has been opened at the Chester Basin Fire Hall at 5430 Highway 3, in Chester Basin.
Lunenburg RCMP posted on social media that it is helping with road closures. Police are asking people to avoid the area and follow directions from first responders.
