A Bible Hill, N.S., man has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to the 2025 death of a 42-year-old woman.
Lee Andrew MacDonald, 49, was arrested on Tuesday and made his first court appearance at Truro provincial court on Wednesday. Police said he remains in custody pending future court appearances.
On the morning of Jan. 3, 2025, police were called to a home on Bomber Drive in Bible Hill for a wellness check and found the woman’s body.
An unconscious man — later identified as MacDonald — was also taken to hospital that day.
The woman’s death was considered suspicious. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service later determined her death was a homicide.
At the time, the RCMP confirmed the man and the woman were known to each other but there was no evidence to suggest the sudden death was a case of intimate partner violence.
In a news release on Wednesday, the police said there is still no evidence to suggest the homicide is an incident of intimate partner violence.
